Eagles could pounce for free agent midfielder.Crystal Palace are reportedly eyeing up a move for former Manchester City youngster Abdisalam Ibrahim, according to the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old midfielder was released by City earlier this summer, though he was once regarded as one of the brightest prospects coming through their youth system.

Even earlier this year, the Norway youth international was being linked with the likes of Arsenal, and he won’t be short of offers since becoming a free agent a few months ago.

Palace are keen to continue strengthening their squad on the cheap, having won promotion to the Premier League via the Championship playoffs last season, and the addition of a player once described as ‘the next Patrick Vieira’ would be a good boost for manager Ian Holloway.

The Eagles have also had an opening bid of around £3million for Ipswich left-back Aaron Cresswell, 23, rejected by the Championship club. Cresswell is widely regarded as one of the best full-backs in the Championship, and Holloway may try again to sign the youngster.

Palace’s most notable signings this summer since winning promotion have been Marouane Chamakh, Jerome Thomas and Florian Marange.
