Tottenham Close in On £60m Quartet as Andre Villas-Boas Continues Summer Spending

Portuguese has been busy landing top-level recruits  before the window closes on Sept 2.

Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of sealing deals totalling a staggering £60 million for Anzhi Makhachkala’s Willian, Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao and the AS Roma pair of Erik Lamela and Miralem Pjanic, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The north London club, soon to be bankrolled with the cash from the imminent sale of coveted wide man Gareth Bale to Madrid in a world-record transfer worth £85m, have acted quickly in order to beef up their squad before the window closes for business on Sept 2.

So far, Tottenham head coach Andre Villas-Boas has already secured moves for Roberto Soldado, Nacer Chadli, Etienne Capoue and Paulinho totalling a staggering £60m, but the Portuguese’s summer spending spree has seemingly only just begun.

And now Villas-Boas is on the verge of finalising moves for another FOUR new players, with occasional Brazil international Willian having already undergone a medical at White Hart Lane and discussed personal terms with the club on Tuesday night ahead of his expected club-record £30m move to the capital.

However, the 25-year-old wide man will now be joined at the Lane by the Roma duo of Argentina international striker Lamela and Bosnian midfield player Pjanic, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy having flown in from his holiday home in Miami on Tuesday night to wrap up the deals for both men.

But that will not be the end of Tottenham’s recruitment drive this summer though, as the club are also expected to sign left-back Coentrao as part of the deal that sees Bale move to the Spanish capital this season, with the Portugal international leaving the Santiago Bernabeu after two seasons and 63 appearances for los Blancos in that time.
