Yaya Toure thinks Manchester City are set for a successful season under Manuel Pellegrini following the clubs 4-0 win over Newcastle  on Monday night, Goal.com reports.

Toure put in an impressive personal performance for the Sky Blues against Newcastle, scoring a wonderful free-kick and making several of his trade mark powerful forward runs.

The midfielder hopes to build on his performance against Newcastle and believes the 2013/2014 season will be a good one for the Sky Blues.

“I hope I can continue to score important goals for the team and I think this year is going to be a good one for us,” he told the Manchester Evening News.

City are trying to bounce back from a difficult 2012/2013 campaign, where the club meekly surrendered the Premier League title to bitter rivals Manchester United.

Following last seasons disappointments, Toure says the club are more determined than ever to have a successful campaign.

“This year we want to do the job,” he added. “We want to work hard, keep it going, make it as difficult as possible for our opponents and try to be better and stronger.

“It’s important for me and the club. I know how much everyone desires success and that our fans only want to see one Manchester club profit this season.”
