Liverpool are expecting Real Madrid to revive their interest in striker Luis Suarez as the end of the transfer window approaches, the Guardian reports.

Madrid were linked with a move for Suarez earlier in the transfer window but the speculation  surrounding a bid for the Uruguayan died down as the Spanish giants concentrated on signing Tottenham winger Gareth Bale.

Madrid are set to complete the signing of Bale within the next few days and they may now make a move for their other main transfer target, Suarez.

The Spanish club could see Suarez as a replacement for Karim Benzema, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal within the past couple of days.

Arsenal were originally interested in signing Suarez but have moved their attentions to Benzema after Liverpool refused to do business with them.

If Madrid do sell Benzema then they will be short of a quality striker, meaning a move for Suarez is very likely.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is prepared for bid from Madrid but insists the club won’t consider selling Suarez this late in the transfer window as they will struggle to replace him.

“I’m sure there will be plenty of activity in these last number of days. It is what it is and we will deal with it like we have during the summer,” said the Liverpool manager.

“It’s very difficult at this time (for a Suárez bid to succeed). We are trying to get one or two more quality players in through the door. If we lose Luis at this stage it would be difficult to replace him”.
