Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Spanish giants Real Madrid are said to be so confident about signing Tottenham Hotspur midfield player Gareth Bale this summer that los Blancos have already begun selling the Welshman shirts at the Santiago Bernabeu, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The departure of the coveted wide man has been dominating the close-season transfer window, with the two clubs understood to now be close to finally agreeing a world-record deal worth 99 million euros for the 24-year-old to move to the Spanish capital.

However, as yet there are still some details to be finalised between the two parties, such as how the £85m sum will be paid, with the north London club understood to be insistent that the fee be delivered in one lump sum, while Madrid are believed to prefer to pay it across a four-year period.

Meanwhile, there has also been talk of late that Portugal international Fabio Coentrao could form pat of the world-record deal, with Tottenham director of football Franco Baldini having flown to Spain on Wednesday in order to thrash out these last few points of discussion.

But Real appear so confident that Bale will be their player before the transfer window shuts on Sept 2 that the club’s official website was even selling Bale’s No 11 Madrid shirt online, with the wide man listed as being part of their squad for this season in between Mesut Ozil and Marcelo, before the site was then quickly taken offline for ‘maintenance’.
