Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has said that he is relishing taking on one of the league’s bigger sides this weekend, though he should be careful what he wishes for.
The Premier League new boys lost their opening day fixture 2-0 to West Ham, whilst Manchester City hammered Newcastle 4-0.
And the Bluebirds boss is eager to test himself against one of the league’s big hitters, having seen the side hold their own on the big stage before, most notably during 2012’s League Cup final against Liverpool.
However, new striker Andreas Cornelius could be missing and will face a late fitness test to prove that he will be able to meet the rigours of the game ahead.
The Bluebirds have a clean bill of health in contrast to City, though, who are likely to be without Vincent Kompany (groin), Stevan Jovetic (knock) and Micah Richards (hamstring), who will be joining long term absentee Matija Nestasic on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
City will be looking to keep up with Manchester United and Chelsea who have already set the pace at the top of the Premier League table.
