Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is planning to raid his former club in pursuit of Man City striker John Guidetti according to The Sun.

The Britannia Stadium side could well do with strengthening their attack and Hughes is said to be readying a £5.5m bid for talented Swedish international Guidetti who has struggled to garner any playing time in the Etihad Stadium side’s first team set-up.

Guidetti has not played a single minute of Premier League football but may have hoped that the departures of Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli would aid his pursuit of action but the arrivals of Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic, to act as alternatives to Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko, have effectively ended any chance of the young striker making an impact at Man City.

Mark Hughes brought Guidetti to Man City during his spell at the club and the 21 year old more than proved himself during a loan spell at Feyenoord during which the Stockholm born forward netted 20 goals in 23 appearances.
