Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has continued to play mind games with his Manchester United counterpart David Moyes ahead of tonight’s big game at Old Trafford.

With the ongoing speculation over Wayne Rooney’s future adding an extra dimension to tonight’s crucial Premier League clash, Mourinho has criticised his opponent Moyes for his handing of the situation, the Guardian reports.

The Portuguese coach is keen to land the England international, and believes he is entitled to do so as Moyes has played a major part in his desire to leave United by saying he won’t be first choice for the club this season.

When asked if he would receive a hostile reception at Old Trafford tonight, Mourinho said: “They are against me? But I didn’t say [to Rooney] you will be a second-choice for me. And they are against me?

“We are trying to get a player that a manager told ‘You will be a second option’ for him. We are not going for Van Persie. They don’t have to be against me. If I say Ramires is a second option for me and he plays when Lampard is tired or injured, if someone comes here to get Ramires, nobody is upset.”

Rooney is said to have submitted a transfer request at United, with Chelsea being his first choice for a new club. The Blues are widely expected to make another offer for the 27-year-old after tonight’s game.
