Spanish giants to make surprise move for United star.
Real Madrid could make a surprise move to join the chase for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, according to Sports Direct News.
Supposedly, with news that United could hijack their deal to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham, Real are desperate to bring in another ‘galactico’ signing before the end of the summer, and feel they may be able to lure Rooney away if United have Bale lined up as a replacement.
The 27-year-old’s future has been under intense speculation for the whole summer, with the likes of Barcelona and PSG previously linked with the unsettled forward, though in recent weeks Chelsea appeared the favourites to win the race for his signature.
Blues manager Jose Mourinho has been very public in his desire to land Rooney, but could now face competition from his old club Madrid, who have also been unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Liverpool’s Luis Suarez this summer.
It is unclear if Rooney himself would favour a move abroad, though United would be understandably keen not to sell him to a title rival, and have also said they would be happier to listen to offers for him if they can secure a replacement.
Although a different style of forward from Rooney, Bale could certainly be the player to fill that gap if they can pull off this sensational deal under Real’s noses.
