Tottenham are close to completing the signing of winger Erik Lamela after Roma accepted the North London clubs £30 million offer for the Argentine winger, Goal.com reports.

Lamela is set to fly into London on Tuesday to finalise the deal while his representatives spent most of Monday with Spurs negotiating the wingers £65,000 a week contract.

The transfer is set to be completed in the next 48 hours, with the £30 million deal set to break Spurs record transfer for the third time this summer.

Spurs and Roma reportedly began preliminary talks on the deal a fortnight ago, with the Italian club deciding to cash in on their prize asset if Spurs met their valuation.

Lamela was left on the bench for Roma’s first game of the new season, with manager Rudi Garcia keen to prepare for life without the talented Argentine by starting new signing Gervinho on the right wing with Francesco Totti on left wing.

Now that Spurs have almost signed Lamela, Gareth Bale’s transfer to Real Madrid could also be completed as the Argentine has been seen as a replacement for the Welshman.
