Cardiff City have set their sights on Barcelona winger Isaac Cuenca with the Daily Mirror claiming that the Welsh side are hoping to bring in the young wide-man on a season long loan deal.

22 year old Cuenca was farmed out to Ajax last term though his time in Holland was marred by injury and now a move to join the Premier League newcomers could perhaps tempt the young attacker.

Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino is ready to send Cuenca out on another temporary move, not least as his chances of making an impact in the Nou Camp first team have been further hampered by the arrival of Neymar with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Pedro and Cristian Tello already ahead of the starlet in the attacking pecking order.

When called upon to represent the Barcelona first team Cuenca has not been found wanting and in 2011/12 the locally born Spanish Under 21 international made 30 appearances for the club and the La Masia academy graduate certainly has what it takes to make an impact in the game but could well feel that a move away from the Catalan side would help him to secure some much needed senior football.

Fellow Barcelona youngster Gerard Deulofeu opted to make a similar move to Everton this season.

Cardiff City’s fine win over Man City on the weekend can only help in their pursuit of top talents.
