Slovenian international hopes to fly away from the Bluebirds.
Cardiff City striker Etien Velikonja has expressed his desire to leave the club after growing disillusioned over his lack of first team opportunities, Sky Sports reports.
The 24-year-old only linked up with Malky Mackay’s men last summer, but has so far failed to establish himself within the side and he has been left to twiddle his thumbs on the sidelines for the best part of his time in South Wales.
Since gaining promotion to the Premier League competition for places has only increased at the club, and Velikonja now faces the fact that he may well be surplus to requirements, and with one week left in the transfer window he will be hoping that the club will be sympathetic to his situation and grant him the exit he so sorely wants.
He told Nogomania: “I want to move somewhere where I will be able to play, as I surely won’t get any chances at Cardiff.
“I had an offer from Portugal, but the club said no. I don’t know why.
“I also don’t know why I’m not playing at all. I don’t believe the problem is me. I would really like to play. To get a chance at least.”
