Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has kept tight-lipped on the situation regarding the signing of Gareth Bale, according to Sky Sports.

The Tottenham winger has been strongly linked with a big-money move to the Bernabeu all summer, with rumours that an £86million move could be edging closer to completion over the weekend, though a deal has yet to be confirmed by either club.

Bale was voted as the Premier League’s player of the year last season by both the PFA and FWA after a sensational season, though he is thought to be keen on moving to La Liga this summer after Spurs failed to qualify for the Champions League.

However, Ancelotti would not give anything away when quizzed on the matter, as Bale is not yet a Real Madrid player. He also added that he felt he should respect the players he currently has, some of whom have been linked with moves away if Bale ends up joining the club.

“I don’t like to speak for two reasons, first of all because Gareth Bale is not a player of Real Madrid at this moment, and also because I need to have respect for my players,” he said at his latest press conference.

Bale’s potential arrival has raised question marks over the futures of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria.
