Liverpool’s loaning of Oussama Assaidi to Stoke City appears to have clared the way for Chelsea winger Victor Moses to join the club on loan, according to the Metro.

Assaidi was confirmed as a Stoke player today, leaving Brendan Rodgers’ side a little short of options in the wide areas, as they also recently sold Stewart Downing to West Ham.

After being linked with the likes of Willian, Christian Atsu, and Scott Sinclair at points this summer, Liverpool’s main target now seems to be the loan signing of former Wigan attacker Moses from rivals Chelsea.

The 22-year-old only joined the Blues last summer, but has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge, a task which looks even more unlikely now following the summer signings of Andre Schurrle and Willian, as well as the return from loan of Kevin De Bruyne.

Although it isn’t that common for players to move between rival clubs, Liverpool and Chelsea have done a large amount of business in recent years, with the likes of Fernando Torres, Yossi Benayoun and Daniel Sturridge moving between the two teams.

Moses could be next, as his pace and skill out wide could be a useful addition to the Reds’ squad as they look to mount a serious challenge for a top four place this season.
