Manchester United To Make £46m Record Bid For Real Madrid Star Mesut Ozil

Moyes to smash club’s previous transfer record for German playmaker.Manchester United manager David Moyes is set to launch a club-record £46million bid for Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil, according to talkSPORT.

The German playmaker is reportedly unsettled at the Bernabeu due to the likely arrival of Gareth Bale from Tottenham, and was seen to storm down the tunnel after being substituted in Real’s win over Granada on Monday.

Arsenal have also been linked with the former Werder Bremen midfielder, who has been a key player in La Liga since joining Real in 2010 for around £13million, and he is supposedly keen on a move to the Premier League.

The 24-year-old will command wages of around £200,000 a week, but would be an excellent addition to United’s squad as they look to bring in a creative player to replace the recently-retired Paul Scholes.

Moyes has attempted to bring in other big name targets this summer, but has failed in bids for Thiago Alcantara, Cesc Fabregas and Kevin Strootman, whilst negotiations to sign Marouane Fellaini from Everton are ongoing.

Ozil’s move would make him United’s most expensive purchase of all time, eclipsing the £30.75million they paid Spurs for Dimitar Berbatov in 2008.
