Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has revealed that the club have not received any formal bids from Arsenal for key duo Michu and Ashley Williams, according to Sky Sports.

Both players have been star performers for the Welsh side over the last year, helping them to another safe mid-table finish in the Premier League as well as to glory in the Capital One Cup last season.

With Arsenal keen to add both a striker and a defender to their ranks this summer, Michu and Williams were reportedly top targets for Arsene Wenger, who was said to be willing to break the club’s transfer record for Michu with a £25million bid.

However, the Gunners boss may have prioritised other targets for his squad, as Jenkins claims Swansea have not received contact from Arsenal or anyone else for the two players.

“Nothing has changed there, I have not had one call or enquiry,” he said.

“That’s pure speculation as far as I am aware, and that is good news because we don’t want any interest in those two.”

Williams has also been linked with Liverpool at points this summer, but it will be a big boost for the Swans to keep their top players, as they continue to build a strong team under the expert guidance of manager Michael Laudrup.
