Lille striker Soloman Kalou has stated that he is happy to remain in France despite numerous reports linking him with a return to the Premier League this summer, Sky Sports reports.

The Ivory Coast international has been a reported target for both West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion this summer after admitting that he was missing playing in the English top flight.

His form has significantly improved too, scoring 14 goals in his first season in Ligue 1 and with a reported release clause installed in his contract of just £2.6 million, he has been watched by both sides with great interest as Albion look to replace Romelu Lukaku after his return to Chelsea, and West Ham’s release of Carlton Cole has left the club needed reinforcements in the attacking department.

However, the 26-year-old has insisted that though he would like to return to the Premier League at some point, he is happy where he is and would welcome the stay if no other deals materialised.

“I am definitely happy in French football,” said Kalou.

“I take a lot of pleasure playing here in France.

“I did struggle to settle in the first place, but nowadays I am very happy to play week in, week out.”
