La Liga giants offer midfielder a way out of Manchester.
Spanish side Atletico Madrid have offered Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa an escape route out of Old Trafford this summer as they hope to take him on loan, the Daily Mail reports.
The former Borussia Dortmund man has endured a difficult first season with the Red Devils, seeing injury rob him of a considerable amount of playing time, but winning the league in the process.
Since returning to full fitness he has failed to nail down a regular first team spot and has seen speculation rise over his future with former club Borussia Dortmund reported to be keen on bringing him back.
Kagawa was frequently citied as one of the best midfielders in Europe during his time with the then Bundesliga champions, but United are thought to be reluctant to let him go on a permanent deal so soon.
Atletico could afford to make a formal bid to take the Japan international off of United’s hands permanently, still being flush from the money they received from Monaco from the sale of Radamel Falcao earlier this summer, but Diego Simeone has recognised that he stands a far greater chance of bringing him on board with a the offer of a season long loan instead.
