Tottenham have completed the signing of Christen Eriksen from Ajax for a reported £11.5 million, Sky Sports reports.

Eriksen becomes the third player that Spurs have signed on Friday, following the arrivals of Erik Lamela from Roma and Vlad Chiriches from Steaua Bucharest.

21 year old Eriksen is regarded as one of the best young players in Europe, having helped Ajax win the Dutch League for three years in row.

Many at Ajax believed that Eriksen would leave the club this summer as the Dane only had one year remaining on his contract.

A Spurs statement read: “We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Christian Eriksen.

“The attacking midfielder enjoyed great success during his time in Amsterdam, winning three consecutive Dutch league championships between 2011 and 2013”.

Eriksen added: “Everyone has followed the development of Spurs and it’s something I want to be part of.”

Spurs have signed seven players so far this summer and the arrival of Eriksen, along with Erik Lamela, could finally mean that Gareth Bale’s transfer to Real Madrid can be completed.

Bale has been waiting for days to complete his move to Real Madrid but Spurs wanted to bolster their squad before they allowed the Welshman to leave.
