Arsenal winger Theo Walcott says his team are not fearful of the flurry of new signings made by rivals Tottenham this summer, according to the London Evening Standard.

Walcott has scored three times in the last two matches against Spurs at the Emirates Stadium, and has spoken of his enjoyment of the north London derby as the two sides meet for an early-season encounter this weekend in the Premier League.

Despite a difficult start for the Gunners as they endured a shock 3-1 defeat at home to Aston Villa on the opening day of the season, Arsene Wenger’s side have now won three on the trot with a league win against Fulham and victories in both legs of their Champions League qualifier with Fenerbahce.

Arsenal’s improved form fills Walcott with confidence, as he feels the team can beat anyone when they play this well, even if Spurs have made significant big-name additions to their squad this summer.

Asked if Tottenham now have a better squad than Arsenal, the England international said: “Not at all. I feel we’re very, very strong. Everyone makes out our squad is very weak and there are not many of us but I think we showed in the last few games that we bounced back from a bad result in the first match and proved a lot of people wrong.

“Every club are different and they invested their money very well. For us players we just want to do a job on Sunday, we don’t care if they have brought in £30m stars.

“They have some very good players and a very good manager but we need to make sure we focus on ourselves. The way we’re playing at the moment we believe we can beat anyone.

“It’s a massive game and I always enjoy them. The fans make it very special. It’s very early in the season considering there is an England game coming up but us players love it and it’s a fixture I always look at straight away.”

Despite Gareth Bale looking like leaving the club, Erik Lamela seems set to join fellow new arrivals Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Nacer Chadli in Spurs’ new-look squad this season.
