Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is keen to sell at least one striker before the transfer window closes, with either Jermaine Defoe or Emmanuel Adebayor set to get the boot, the Daily Mirror reports.

Schalke are reportedly favourites to sign Adebayor and are ready to offer Spurs £5 million for the Togo international.

Stoke City are also interested Adebayor and could match Schalke’s offer, while both clubs could be interested in taking the experienced striker on a season long loan.

Several clubs are also thought to be interested in Jermaine Defoe, including Stoke, with manager Mark Hughes looking to partner the England international with his former Spurs team-mate Peter Crouch.

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is also keen on signing Defoe at QPR and hopes to persuade the striker to be at the forefront of his bid to get the Hoops back in the Premier League.

However, Defoe is thought to be unwilling to drop down a division into the Championship, especially in a World Cup year when he needs to be impressing England manager Roy Hodgson.

Either way, it seems that one of Defoe or Adebayor will be departing White Hart Lane in the next few days.
