West Brom have set their sights on Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe as Steve Clarke looks to strengthen his attack according to the Daily Mirror.

Tottenham are looking to secure £6m from any potential sale of the England man and the Baggies may well be open to paying such a fee for the experienced striker though Sunderland are also said to be keen on the 30 year old.

The summer signings of Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado are sure to impact on Defoe’s first team chances and as such, with a World Cup on the horizon, the pint sized forward may well be open to a move away from White Hart Lane.

West Brom brought in veteran Nicolas Anelka over the summer as Clarke looks to fill the void left by Romelu Lukaku, who had an excellent season on loan at the Hawthorns, and may feel Defoe is the right man for the job.

Defoe has netted 135 goals in two spells at Tottenham and has scored 19 goals in 54 appearances for the England national team.
