Speculation continues to hot up that Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil could be announced as a Arsenal player today, with Laurent Koscielny telling Le10Sport that he would be a good signing for the club.

The German international looks increasingly likely to seal a £42million move to the Emirates Stadium, becoming the club’s record signing, and would represent a change in direction from the club’s recent transfer policy.

After years of signing youngsters and nurturing lesser-known talent, Arsene Wenger has shown more ambition this summer in his pursuit of the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez, though neither of these transfers ended in success.

The Frenchman now finally seems to have landed a top target, and Koscielny is confident Ozil can settle well at Arsenal and add something to the team.

“Ozil? We’ll see,” he said.

“The coach has been criticized by fans. We know that the club has money for transfers, but then there’s the desire of players to come or not Arsenal.

“Clubs discuss them and make decisions. It is difficult in the transactions but I have confidence in this group, we’ll see if new players arrive.

“We talk about Mesut Ozil, we’ll see, he is a world class player, a technical player who can adapt to Arsenal.”

Koscielny’s future also came under speculation earlier this summer, with Bayern Munich said to be keen on the player, and Arsenal themselves looking to enter the market for new defensive signings, though neither of these moves materialised.
