Arsenal have revived their interest in Galatasaray playmaker Wesley Sneijder according to the Daily Star.

The 29 year old has enjoyed a revival of fortunes in Turkey but his national team boss has admitted he’d prefer if the experienced midfielder was plying his trade in one of Europe’s ‘big leagues’ and this could perhaps tempt the former Ajax, Real Madrid and Inter Milan man to consider a move to the Premier League.

Galatasaray spent £8m to sign Sneijder back in January and he helped the Istanbul side to clinch a Super Lig title as well as helping his side to the quarter finals of the Champions League.

Arsene Wenger is yet to spend a single penny on new signings this summer having brought in French duo Yaya Sanogo and Mathieu Flamini on free transfers and could feel that adding some much needed experience to his side could well balance the youthful presence in his Gunners squad.

Sneijder has won domestic titles in four nations as well as a Champions League triumph during his time at the San Siro and also has 93 national team caps to his name.
