Saint-Etienne midfielder heading to La Liga.
Arsenal look to have missed out on the signing of Saint-Etienne midfielder Joshua Guilavogui, with talkSPORT claiming that the Frenchman has joined Atletico Madrid.
The 22-year-old has been an impressive performer in Ligue 1, and attracted the interest of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger this summer, as a possible solution to his side’s problems in midfield.
The Gunners are yet to find an true replacement for Alex Song, who left the club for Barcelona last summer, though Wenger has brought in Mathieu Flamini on a free transfer.
Still, after also targeting Bayern Munich’s Luiz Gustavo earlier this summer before the Brazilian joined Wolsburg, Arsenal appear to have let another one slip through the net as Guilavogui heads to Spain.
The French international cost around £8.4million and will sign a five-year contract with the 2012 Europa League winners, leaving Arsenal with little time now to find a suitable midfielder to fill in during the absence through injury of Abou Diaby and Mikel Arteta.
Flamini may indeed be seen as the solution in that position, as Arsenal continue to be linked with attacking players such as Mesut Ozil on deadline day.
