Toffees agree price for Latics youngster.
Everton have reportedly agreed a £12.5m fee for Wigan Athletic midfielder James McCarthy according to the Daily Mail.
Though the amount bid by the Toffees meets the Latics valuation of the 22 year old Republic of Ireland international there is still some discussion to be had in relation to how the payment will be made.
Wigan want the fee in one lump sum and Everton want to pay in installments and one would imagine that such a move would call into question Marouane Fellaini’s future at Goodison Park.
McCarthy has seen a number of his Latics team-mates follow Roberto Martinez to Everton and could well be keen to secure an instant Premier League return before the transfer window slams shut.
McCarthy has racked up over 200 club appearances for Hamilton and Wigan Athletic and has 15 national team caps to his name.
Roberto Martinez has already brought in Arouna Kone, Joel Robles and Antolin Alcaraz, all of whom were playing for Wigan Athletic last term.
