Red Devils are desperate to add more creativity in the centre of the park.

Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Premier League champions Manchester United expect to tie up big-money deals for midfield players Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera of Everton and Athletic Bilbao respectively by midnight on Sept 2, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The Red Devils have been trying to sign reinforcements in the centre of the park all summer long, although as yet new United head coach David Moyes has been unsuccessful in all his efforts to land a creative midfield player.

The Scot saw an offer of £25 million for Herrera rejected by Bilbao late last week, with the Basques insisting that the former Spain Under-23 international is not for sale in this window for any price.

However, the 24-year-old was only an unused substitute on Sunday night as Bilbao lost 3-1 in La Liga to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, increasing speculation that Herrera could soon be on his way to Old Trafford.

And that move is expected to be completed before the Sept 2 cut-off date, with the Spaniard set to join United on a five-year deal worth £3.5m per year for a fee of £30m, the price of Herrera’s release clause in his current contract at the San Mames.

Meanwhile, Herrera is also likely to be joined in the north west by Everton midfield player Fellaini, with the giant Belgium international on the verge of moving to United for a whopping £25m as Moyes takes his spending on transfer deadline day to £55m on two new players.
