Gunners star ‘excited’ to play alongside German international.
Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has admitted that he is looking forward to linking up with new signing Mesut Ozil after the international break, Sky Sports reports.
Arsene Wenger smashed the club’s transfer record late on transfer deadline day to sign Ozil from Real Madrid in a £42.5m deal.
And the England forward has already spoken of his delight at the acquisition and has said that he is cannot wait to get started playing alongside the new man by insisting that he exactly the kind of player the club should be attracting.
“It is very exciting,” Walcott told Sky Sports News. “I played against him for the Under 21s when we lost 4-0 and he showed his qualities then and he has showed them throughout many years now for his club and country.
“He’s been a great addition and I am personally looking forward to playing with him. I am really excited to play with him.”
Walcott is currently away with the England national side ahead of their two World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and the Ukraine, and he admitted that the whole squad were watching the dramatic events of transfer deadline day unfold as the clock ticked down to 11pm.
“Everyone was glued to their TVs – it was quite exciting,” added Walcott.
“It’s something that isn’t pleasant for players because it’s a difficult time, but I am glad everyone was very happy with their moves and now can just focus on their clubs and get down to business.”
