Turkish giants beat Chelsea to winger’s signature.Super Lig side Galatasaray have announced that they have successfully completed the signing of highly rated winger Bruma for a fee in the region of €10m, Sky Sports reports.

The 18-year-old Portugal Under-20 international, who was originally born in Guinea-Bissau, has signed a five-year contract with the Turkish champions.

They have successfully managed to beat off competition from the likes of Chelsea, who were also said to be heavily interested in taking him to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Bruma had only made his Sporting debut in February of this year and featured in 12 more Primeira Liga matches before scoring four goals in five games for Portugal at the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey this summer.

He has been labelled by many as the ‘new Cristiano Ronaldo’ and he had been made available after falling out with certain sectors of Sporting’s hierarchy and even attempted to have his contract at the club rescinded at the beginning of the transfer window in order to move on elsewhere.

The five-year deal is said to be earning him €5.6m a year on top of some significantly high individual match bonuses, making him one of the highest paid teenagers in Europe.
