Chelsea striker glad to have joined Toffees.
New Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has said that he is pleased to have joined the club and has insisted that it is the right move for his career, Sky Sports reports.
The Chelsea forward did have the option of returning to West Bromwich Albion where he enjoyed a personally successful campaign last season, bagging 17 goals in 38 games.
But he decided to plump for a deadline day switch to Merseyside instead of heading for a return to the Hawthornes, and he has insisted that he is happy with his decision and cannot wait to get started with his new club.
“I am very glad,” he said on Sky Sports News. “I read that some said I was not happy but I am very happy – this is a club that can bring me a lot, and I can bring a lot too.
“I still hope to grow and bring a lot to this team.”
The 20-year-old also insisted that he departed the Stamford Bridge outfit on good terms, leaving many shocked at the club’s decision to loan him out once again after such a successful season last year.
“I think at my age it is important to play a lot, I have a good relationship with the coach at Chelsea and I hope to have good results,” he added.
Many had expected Lukaku to challenge for a regular first team spot this season, but new boss Jose Mourinho had other ideas.
