Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will switch his attentions to new contracts for three of his key players after pulling off the sensational signing of Mesut Ozil, the Daily Mirror reports.

The players in question are experienced trio Bacary Sagna, Tomas Rosicky and Per Mertesacker, all of whom are regarded as important members of the team by the Gunners boss.

Sagna and Rosicky are currently into the final year of their contracts, and are two of the club’s longest serving players apart from Theo Walcott and Abou Diaby.

Sagna’s future in particular has come under some speculation in recent months, with the French right-back said to be concerned at a lack of activity in the transfer market by the team, though he has ended up staying at the Emirates Stadium this summer despite interest from PSG.

The new signing of £42m star Ozil may persuade the 30-year-old of the club’s ambition, and Wenger will be keen to keep Rosicky and Mertesacker as well after often being criticised for relying too much on young players.

Sagna has also shown his worth this season in his versatility, filling in at centre-back at points due to the absence of Laurent Koscielny, and forming a good partnership with the solid and reliable Mertesacker.
