Selecao star may now be forced to miss Sunday’s friendly with Australia.
Chelsea have been hit with yet another massive injury blow after key midfield player Oscar was carried off from training with Brazil on Friday, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
The diminutive playmaker was preparing for the five-time world champions’ friendly international against Australia at the Mane Garrincha stadium on Sunday when he received a nasty looking blow to his ankle from compatriot Hernanes that required lengthy treatment from the Brazil medical staff, before the 21-year-old was then forced to be carried from the training pitch in obvious discomfort.
And this latest injury scare comes hot on the heels of another setback facing Oscar’s midfield partner at Stamford Bridge, Belgium wide man Eden Hazard, who was also forced to limp out of training on Friday after suffering from an achilles’ tendon injury.
Oscar’s fitness will now be assessed by the Selecao medics in the build-up to Sunday’s international with the Socceroos, although it is highly unlikely that Brazil national team coach Luiz Felipe Scolari will take any chances with the attacker’s fitness in what is essentially just a preparation game ahead of next summer’s World Cup on home soil.
However, if Oscar is unable to feature against Australia, then it is understood that he could be replaced in the team by his club-mate Ramires.
