A victory for Ireland here will mean they leapfrog both Sweden and Austria into second place behind group leaders Germany.
Ireland will be full of confidence going into this one, coming off the back of the 3-0 victory over the Faroe Islands is June, though their record in recent friendlies leaves a lot to be desired as they have failed to score in their previous two games following the victory over the island minnows.
Bristol City stopper Greg Cunningham has been called by by Giovanni Trapattoni in place of Stephen Kelly, but the Italian will have to do without Aiden McGeady and Sean St Ledger, who have both been ruled out.
Marc Wilson and Darren Randolph are both expected to be available after overcoming respective foot and thigh injuries, whilst James McCarthy will be welcomed back into the side after being allowed extra time off to complete his move from Wigan to Everton.
Sweden are expected to start with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Johan Elmander in their attack as they have no fresh injury news to contend with.
