Stopper happy to see Suarez stay.
Liverpool defender Daniel Agger is delighted with the club’s transfer business this summer and is glad that they were able to keep a hold of Luis Suarez, Sky Sports reports.
Brendan Rodgers added to his squad on transfer deadline day by bringing in Mamadou Sakho, Tiago Ilori and Victor Moses from Chelsea to complement the earlier arrivals of Kolo Toure, Simon Mignolet, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto and Aly Cissokho.
And Agger, who was names as the club’s new vice captain ahead of the new season believes that they will be able to serious challenge for honours this season thanks to the added quality, especially as they were able to fend off interest in Suarez from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
“It has been a positive transfer window for us.” Agger told Danish daily BT.
“We have brought in players with quality and that is what you want. I have not seen all in action yet, but what I have seen thus far is good.
“Of course, it was good that we could keep Suarez. Everyone who knows his qualities on the pitch, knows that he is a player we need.”
The Danish international is also pleased with the club’s early season form, having won three out of three already, including one high profile victory over the old nemesis, Manchester United. However, he is refusing to let himself get carried away.
“Some more matches need to be played before you can tell whether we can stay at the top and fight for the trophies.” added Agger.
“We have got things in order. We haven’t conceded goals and that is always a help, because then you don’t need to score many goals yourself.
“The city is always positive and that is what has impressed me the most in Liverpool.”
