Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has reportedly agreed a move in principle to join Spanish giants Barcelona next summer, according to the Metro.

The 31-year-old has been at Anfield since 2005, and became one of the best goalkeepers in the league in his early years with the club, though a gradual dip in form saw him displaced as the club’s number one this season as they opted to sign Simon Mignolet from Sunderland.

Mignolet’s arrival has also seen Reina shipped out on loan for the year, as he agreed a move to Serie A side Napoli for 2013/14, though it looks like he could be making a permanent exit next summer, as Barcelona have identified him as a possible replacement for Victor Valdes.

The La Liga champions were reportedly in for him this summer as well, with Valdes looking likely to leave the club, though with their long-serving ‘keeper remaining at the club for the final season of his contract, they will now move for a replacement when he leaves.

Chelsea youngster Thibaut Courtois is also said to be a target of theirs, though it has now emerged that Reina has agreed to a move to the Nou Camp.

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has also been linked as a target for the Catalans.
