Schalke youngster Julian Draxler admits it was difficult to reject the advances of Arsenal and Chelsea this summer, but believes he made the right decision to remain with the Bundesliga club at this stage in his career, according to Sky Sports.

The immensely talented 19-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best young players in world football at the moment, and is believed to have attracted big-money bids from several top clubs at points this summer, though he has remained with current club Schalke.

The German international will be hoping to start for his country at next summer’s World Cup, and believes it was wise to ensure he was playing regular football at the club he knows well in the build-up to the tournament in Brazil.

However, he admitted he doesn’t know if he will get that kind of offer again, and said he simply followed his heart in staying with the club that he has been with for his whole career so far.

“The World Cup’s at the end of the season and you always need time to get used to a new team,” he said.

“It was not an easy decision. You never know whether you will ever get such an offer again.

“In the end, I followed my heart and decided to remain at Schalke. On top of that, I’m convinced I’m at the right club with Schalke.”

Draxler scored 13 goals from midfield last season, and is one of many top young talents coming out of German football at the moment, with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Mario Goetze, Thomas Mueller, Marco Reus and others all competing for starting spots in the national side.
