Villa striker clatters boy band member into next week.Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor found himself the centre on a Twitter storm on Sunday as he clashed with one of pop music’s most famous faces.
The 26-year-old was in Glasgow to take part in a charity game for Stiliyan Petrov, his former captain, who was forced to retire from the game last year due to contracting acute leukaemia.
In a Celtic XI vs a Petrov XI, the game was awash with a number of stars past and present, and though the game yielded eight goals, the big talking point was undoubtedly Agbonlahor’s 53rd minute challenge, which left the One Direction member in a crumpled heap on the floor.
Tomlinson, clearly shaken, limped around for a while before being subbed off and emptying his guts onto the side of the pitch.
The internet exploded, with half of it’s users threatening to kill the England international, whilst the other half seemingly want him as their new king.
The biggest cheer of the day, though, was reserved for Petrov himself, as fans of both Villa and Celtic united to see their former skipper on the pitch for the first time since March 2012. He received a rapturous applause and will now focus on getting his newly formed cancer charity off the ground.
