Chelsea new boy Samuel Eto’o may be ready to sensationally quit playing for Cameroon following a row with coach Volker Finke, the Daily Star reports.

The 32-year-old helped the Indomitable Lions reach the final round of qualification for next summer’s World Cup in Brazil, but now sees his future in the balance after an argument concerning team selection.

This of course isn’t the first time Eto’o has threatened to quit playing international football, having already done so a year ago this month, however, according to French newspaper L’Equipe he told teammates that this time he could very well follow through on his promise following the 1-0 victory over Libya.

His announcement follows a week of tension in the national camp after Eto’o demanded the selection of goalkeeper Carlos Kameni and striker Achille Webo against Libya, with German coach Finke refusing to agree.

Eto’o had initially told the coaching staff that he was not fit enough to take part in the clash, but was included in the squad anyway and even wore the skipper’s armband before being taken off with an hour on the clock gone.

Cameroon now face a two legged play off if they want to qualify for next year’s showpiece event.
