Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing unsettled Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The experienced Spain international’s future with the Liga giants has been in doubt for some time now, with Casillas having been dropped by previous los Blancos head coach Jose Mourinho last December after the pair fell out at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Compatriot Diego Lopez was bought from Sevilla to take over from the 32-year-old, and despite Mourinho leaving the Spanish capital at the end of last season, new Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti caused a major surprise at the beginning of the new campaign by retaining Lopez as his first-choice shot stopper ahead of Casillas.

And that latest development has only served to increase speculation that Casillas may be about to quit his home-town club when the transfer window finally reopens again for business in January, with Dortmund now the latest team to be linked with the keeper after both Premier League outfits Arsenal and Manchester City were also rumoured to be keen on signing the Spaniard earlier this summer.

Casillas, who has been at Madrid since 1999, has a contract with the club that runs until June 30 2017.
