In-Form Arsenal Striker Targeting Golden Boot Win

Giroud in with a chance of finishing as top scorer.In-form Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud believes he is in with a chance of winning the Premier League Golden Boot this season, according to Sky Sports.

The prolific Frenchman has four goals in his first four league games this season and looks to have found his feet in English football after a slow start last year when he first joined the club from Ligue 1 side Montpellier.

Giroud’s latest strike came in the 3-1 win over Sunderland, and was assisted by Arsenal debutant Mesut Ozil, whose arrival at the club for £42m fills Giroud with confidence that he can continue to get the service he needs to keep scoring goals this season.

“I must have a chance,” said the 26-year-old.

“I feel good and, with these players giving me chances, it has to be a possibility.

“That is something I aimed to achieve when I joined Arsenal. Now that we have Mesut Ozil, it can get even better.”

There were concerns at Arsenal that they would need a new striker this year, and manager Arsene Wenger was linked strongly with the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez during the summer transfer window, though it now seems that Giroud looks like the ideal first choice upfront for the club, even if the Gunners are somewhat lacking in backup.

The last Arsenal player to win the Golden Boot was Robin van Persie, who scored 30 league goals in his final season with the club in 2011/12.
