Manchester United manager David Moyes has praised youngster Adnan Januzaj after the Belgian starlet made his debut for the club in this weekend’s Premier League game with Crystal Palace, Sky Sports reports.

The 18-year-old came on for 25 minutes for the Premier League champions, and showed some good glimpses of his fine potential, which has also reportedly attracted surprise interest from the club’s neighbours and local rivals Manchester City.

Although first-team opportunities could look limited for the youthful attacker in this star-studded side, Januzaj is widely tipped to be a star of the future, and Moyes has stated his belief that he will be a good player after he made an impression on his first senior appearance.

The Scot even suggested that Januzaj could have been involved with the team earlier this season, but for the fact that his side faced some difficult opponents in their opening fixtures of the season, which included Chelsea at home and a trip to Anfield to play rivals Liverpool.

Speaking to United’s official website, Moyes said: “Adnan’s ahead of schedule.

“I would have introduced him earlier if the games had been suited, but the start of the Premier League has been a bit more difficult.

“I thought, if I got the opportunity against Palace, I’d introduce him and I considered playing him from the start.

“His performance when he came on shows that would have been merited. He did a lot of good things, he moved with the ball well. The boy’s going to be a good player.”

United enjoyed a relatively comfortable 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the end, giving Moyes his second win in the league since taking charge of the club.
