Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira is reportedly keen on joining his former Bernabeu team-mate at the Emirates Stadium according to the Daily Express.

Having seen his compatriot complete a £42m move to the North London club the 25 year old battling midfielder is apparently hoping to move to Arsenal and hopes that Carlo Ancelotti would be willing to consider offers for the former Stuttgart man.

The arrival of young Spaniard Asier Illarramendi from Real Sociedad in the summer would appear to be an indication that the Spanish giants may well opt to use Khedira in a less regular role and should a big enough bid come in for the German then perhaps the La Liga side would sell, especially given the fact they have invested vast sums in new signings this summer, not least the £86m used to bring in Gareth Bale from Tottenham.

Arsene Wenger clearly felt the need to add some much needed steel to his midfield to help balance out the creative talent he has in his armoury as he elected to offer out of contract Frenchman Mathieu Flamini a contract but the Arsenal boss may feel that Khedira is a higher quality and longer term option to consider.

Khedira has made 81 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid since joining the club from Stuttgart back in July 2010, of which 20 were from the bench.
