Old Trafford side keen on Nou Camp battler.

Man United are reportedly readying a January bid for unhappy Barcelona midfielder Alex Song according to Spanish source El Mundo Deportivo.

David Moyes could still do with bringing in an out and out defensive midfielder, arguably a player he does not have within his Old Trafford armoury, and Cameroon international Alex Song is apparently growing increasingly dissatisfied with his role in the Barcelona first team set-up.

Last term the 26 year old battler made just 17 La Liga starts and has only managed one start during the current campaign, therefore seemingly proving new boss Gerardo Martino has as little intention of using Song in a prominent role as his predecessor Tito Vilanova.

Song may well jump at the chance of a return to the Premier League and if by the time the January transfer window has re-opened he is no nearer to making an impact at the Nou Camp then such a deal could well be one that suits all concerned.

Man United have sought to freshen up their midfield with the purchase of Belgian powerhouse Marouane Fellaini though Song would offer a new dimension to the club’s playing style and would afford some much needed protection for the club’s defensive line.
