Arsenal and Tottenham target Ciprian Marica looks set to choose a move to Spain with Rayo Vallecano, according to talkSPORT.

The 27-year-old has attracted some attention in the last few weeks after several clubs considered snapping him up after the close of the transfer window, as he was still free to move due to being released by German side Schalke at the end of last season.

Both Arsenal and Spurs had been keen to sign another striker during the summer transfer window, but failed to land their respective targets, leading them to consider the Romanian international as a decent backup option.

West Ham and Fiorentina were also said to be interested in signing Marica, with injuries to their main forwards seeing them seek emergency cover, though it now seems that Rayo Vallecano will succeed in bringing him to La Liga.

Marica has also represented the likes of Shakhtar Donetsk and Stuttgart in his career so far, though he has never truly managed to find consistency at club level, despite being a regular scorer for the Romanian national team.

A deal for Marica to sign for Rayo Vallecano could be completed this week, leaving Arsenal and Tottenham to wait until January to conduct further business this season.
