Aston Villa have been dealt a blow with the news that star striker Christian Benteke will be missing from action for anywhere between four to six weeks after being forced off during the clash with Norwich City last weekend, the BBC reports.

The news isn’t as bad as initially first feared as Villa thought that he may have been missing for even longer, but scans showed that the problem was not as bad as many believed.

“You are never quite sure until you hear from the professor [doctor], but thankfully it is not too serious,” said manager Paul Lambert.

“He is feeling a lot better.”

The injury means that the burly striker will miss Belgium’s World Cup qualifiers against against Croatia and Wales in October, as well as Villa’s Premier League matches against Manchester City, Hull, Tottenham and Everton.

Benteke already five goals to his name this season, helping Villa maintain a steady mid table position despite a tough start that saw them take on Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea in the opening three games of the campaign.

He missed out on the club’s exit from the Capital One Cup on Tuesday as his teammates went down 4-0 to Tottenham Hotspur.
