The agent of Manchester United right-back Rafael Da Silva has played down rumours that the 23-year-old is looking to leave the club to join Brazilian side Corinthians, the Daily Mirror reports.

Stories emerged earlier today that the defender may look to leave the club for a return to his native Brazil, as he had grown concerned over his first-team spot at Old Trafford.

Rafael has not featured yet in the Premier League this season, with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones providing strong competition for the right-back slot in David Moyes’ side, even though the Brazilian had been one of the team’s star performers as they won the title last season.

However, his agent Cassiano Pereira has played down the likelihood of a move, saying he is happy at United and not considering a move away from the club.

“He’s a starter, despite having been injured [and] nobody at Corinthians has talked to me,” Pereira said.

“Suddenly, there is interest. If there is, it’s great. All third parties and players see Corinthians very positively, but it’s hard, because he is happy at United…. He is not even thinking about returning to Brazil.”

Rafael first joined United as a youngster along with his twin brother Fabio back in 2008, when the pair were signed from Brazilian team Fluminese, and of the two Rafael has gone on to enjoy more success at the club than Fabio, who spent last season out on loan with Queens Park Rangers.
