Premier League giants Manchester United and Manchester City look set to be disappointed by the news that Andres Iniesta has rubbished speculation that he could be about to quit Barcelona, according to the Daily Express.

The 29-year-old had reportedly come into some disagreement over signing a new contract with the Catalan giants, leading to speculation that the two Manchester clubs could pounce to sign him as soon as the January transfer window opens.

However, Iniesta, who has been at the Nou Camp for his entire career, is surprised at these rumours, and has outlined his ambition to see out the rest of his career with Barcelona.

The Spanish international admitted that negotiations are ongoing, but insisted that money is not an underlining issue, and believes that an agreement will be reached between himself and the club.

“There is nothing strange or any war going on between Barca and Iniesta. The club wants me here and I want to stay here,” he said.

“I have said many times that my aim is to retire here and the club wants the same. We all want to reach an agreement.

“This has nothing to do with money or whether I am the second, third, fourth or fifth best paid player.

“What motivates me is knowing that I have some good years ahead in which I can keep improving and growing as a player.”

Iniesta is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders of his generation, and has won everything there is to win at both club and international level, with six La Liga titles and three Champions League titles with Barcelona, and the World Cup and two European Championships with Spain.
