Parkhead boss looks to strengthen attack.

Check in to Kilmarnock vs Celtic

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has set his sights on AZ Alkmaar striker Aron Johannsson according to Italian source TuttoMercato.

The 22 year old United States international has been in fine form since moving to the Dutch top tier in January, scoring nine goals in 13 appearances and could be seen the Scottish Premiership side as a potential replacement for Gary Hooper, who left for Norwich City in the summer.

Celtic have started the new season well enough, going six games unbeaten and sitting in second spot with a game in hand over leaders Inverness but their squad has certainly reduced in quality following the sale of the aforementioned Hooper as well as Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama and Lennon may feel he needs more striking know-how if he is to progress in the Champions League.

The Glasgow side made into the knock-out stages last term but started the current campaign with a narrow defeat away at AC Milan.

Johannsson has been capped twice by the United States national team and would presumably jump at the chance to join the Bhoys.
