Former Chelsea Striker Didier Drogba Could Be Appointed Galatasaray Player/Manager

Blues legend to be put in temporary charge of Turkish giants.Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba could be in contention for a temporary role as player/manager of Galatasaray, according to the Daily Mirror.

The veteran forward joined the Turkish giants last January and has been a key player for the team, though his emergence as a contender for the position will come as some surprise given his inexperience as a coach.

Still, it is likely that Drogba would only be in charge on a temporary basis, as the club continue their search for a new manager after the sacking of Fatih Terim.

They have supposedly already been rejected by former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini, and are hoping to secure the appointment of Roberto Di Matteo, who was sacked by Chelsea last season.

Di Matteo had also been a target for Sunderland, who are seeking a replacement for Paolo Di Canio after parting company with the controversial Italian earlier in the week, though he is likely to opt for the chance of managing in the Champions League with Galatasaray instead of fighting relegation with the Black Cats.

Still, for now it seems increasingly likely that Drogba will be caretaker manager when the team face Caykur Rizespor this weekend.
