Reds to bid for Argentine playmaker in January.

Liverpool are being linked with a January move for former Arsenal and Tottenham target Javier Pastore of PSG, according to reports in the Daily Star.

The Argentine is said to be considering his future at Parc des Princes after falling down the pecking order at the club after they have continued their policy of spending vast amounts of money on the world’s biggest names.

Pastore was the first major signing by the club following their Qatari takeover in 2011, and has been an influential performer for the team, though he has not been considered first choice this term under new manager Laurent Blanc, who took over from Carlo Ancelotti in the summer.

This has seen the 24-year-old linked with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham, as well as with a return to Italy, where he first shone for Serie A outfit Palermo between 2009 and 2011.

Liverpool are known to be lining up some big moves for this January, particularly in the midfield department, and see Pastore as an ideal candidate to provide some creativity from the middle of the park, which they have badly lacked in the absence of Brazilian starlet Coutinho through injury.

The Reds also missed out on the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Christian Eriksen in that position during the summer.
